BDT sought a complete transformation of their existing site, combining a modern refresh of their office space with a comprehensive refurbishment of the building.

BLACK was engaged by Black Diamond Technologies (BDT) in 2024 to deliver a 1,000sqm fitout and refurbishment at their Penrose site. The project, completed over a 14-week period, involved a range of significant works, including re-roofing, re-cladding, external window glazing, and weather-tightness improvements. Alongside these structural upgrades, the project included a modern office fitout designed to better support the BDT team and reflect their brand.

Refurbishment projects come with unique challenges, requiring work within an existing structure while managing constraints and unforeseen issues. In this case, the original scope of work involved repairing or replacing 30% of the existing eyebrow structures due to water damage. However, as the project progressed, it became clear that 100% of these structures needed replacement. This presented a significant challenge, as it involved multiple parties—weather-tightness consultants, structural engineers, architects, the client’s project manager, contractors, and BLACK—working collaboratively to address the issue. Despite this expansion in scope, BLACK managed to complete the additional work within the original 14-week timeframe.

BLACK’s ability to manage unforeseen challenges and adapt to changes was key to delivering the project on time and within budget, creating a contemporary workspace that met BDT’s needs.
